As Plant examinations are an important part of meeting statutory, regulatory and operational requirements, it is equally important that the Inspection Engineer is competent and qualified to inspect the plant in question.
Principal Engineer
Erne Lifting Serivces Principal Engineer is an ex insurance inspector, working for one of the leading insurance inspection companyies for a number of years. During which underwent an intensive training program, commencing with an initial three month dedicated training program, covering a range of both statutory and non-statutory plant
Technical Seminars
As part of our continuing professional development program, we also employ a post competency training program. This program enables our Engineer to keep abreast of technological developments as well as to ensure an awarness of any legislative updates. This process uses external training providers and internal technical seminars.
Audits
In accordance with the requirments of UKAS (and European inspection standard) our inspection enginers undergo a comprehensive audit by an external body every four years to ensure the Engineers maintain their competency, and as a means of identifying any additional training reguirements.
Academic Qualifications
The European Directives to which all lifting equipment is examined both North and South of the border requires the competent person have both practical and theroretical knowledge. It also places duties on the individual employing a competent person, to ensure they are employing people who are indeed qualified and competent. Erne Lifting Services Inspection Engineer is currently in the third year of a PhD in a lifting equipment related topic, having previously attained a BSc and MSc.
University Partnership
Erne Lifting Services has recently forged a partnership with the University of Ulster. As part of our on going professional development training program, Erne Lifting Services Engineers are taking part in this unique tailored training program, to increase the awarness of our engineers with regard to risk analysis within the inspection industry. The program involves analitical research, presentations, legislative analysis and technical conferences. The aim of the program is to ensure highly trained, technically competent engineers, with strong customer communication skills and the confidence to make professional jugements.
